Inspiration: Know What to Steal

I’ve been quite hectic lately- we’re moving to Irvine on Friday and I’ve been prepping for the move. On top of that, I’ve formally decided to finish law school-I have 2 years left-and I’ve been preoccupied trying to justify why I plan to willingly put myself through another 2 years of hell. I’m not sure what type of law I want to be in, maybe intellectual property. We’ll see. In any case, sorry for the lull. In the meantime, I’ve been collecting some inspiring pictures I’ve come across during my daily blog readings (Bloglovin’ is the best and I seriously question your sanity if you are without an account-yes, it’s free). Everyone needs some inspiration now and again. The hubbs and I watched a documentary the other day, Welcome to Macintosh, on the history of Apple Computers…one of the first things they put on the screen was a quote by Andy Warhol (I think?). I don’t remember the exact wording but it was something like “great artists copy other people’s work…” and Guy Kawasaki said the reason Apple is so awesome and other computer companies suck is because the people who work for the other companies don’t know what to steal. Crazy, eh? Makes you think about the whole process of design and product development all together.

On a happier note, I am very excited to attend shows for Style Week OC at the end of this week! It’s pretty awesome that OC is devoting shows to surf/skate/lifestyle brands. After all, not everyone can afford Alexander Wang and Lanvin. A big THANK YOU to Jane Gillespie for getting me a seat!

BTW – if you have a “career” like me, and are stuck in an office all day without your beloved Photoshop, fear not, online photo editors will save your life and are pretty decent for creating photo collages and inspiration boards (wow…longest sentence ever). I use LunaPic and FotoFlexer. You can also add rad animations and slideshow effects to your pics (as you can see above). You’re welcome.
