The Middle Ground

I’ve been hunting for a decent pair of moto boots for the past month. I’m pretty sure I want the moto boot to be my main fall shoe staple. As of yet, no luck. If I find something AMAZING it ends up being over $300. If I find something affordable it ends up being the cheapest shit ever. I can’t justify saving money on something that is clearly and obviously a piece of crap. It seems as if there is no middle ground when it comes to this. You’ve got the ridiculously overpriced-yet-amazing quality, and the extremely affordable fake leather crap that looks like you got it out of a vending machine. WTF? I’m still on the search for that perfect boot but, in the mean time, I’ve managed to find something that nicely balances out affordability and quality. (Affordability, to me, means under $125). Although they aren’t real leather, they look like they could be. And while they aren’t my final end-all purchase of fall boots, I think they are a rather good start.
I got them in black – the website doesn’t have a picture of the black ones. Oddly enough, the store I was at yesterday didn’t have the brown ones. Go figure. The black ones are pretty rad actually – and only $60. The buckles don’t look cheap and the leather looks and feels real. The heel doesn’t feel like cheap, fake wood, and the slouch isn’t too 80’s. Perfectly western/rocker. I love them. Get them at Cathy Jean. Cathy Jean has been an awesome source of affordable, quality shoes for me lately. Think of them as a step under Aldo – which is completely do-able.
Classic khakis
khakis-pulled out of the $5 bin at H&M; shoes-purchased at DSW like forever ago, the label has worn off; pink under shirt-Metropark; gray blouse-Calvin Klein; necklace-ihavenoidea
Re-think khakis, would ya? It doesn’t matter what you label yourself or your style, there’s always a way to work a pair of these into your closet. Get creative-that’s what this whole big fashion industry is all about. Khakis are a classic and everyone should have a pair.

Shopping Tools – Yoox.com
I’ve been liking Yoox.com more and more lately. Their selection is awesome, their deals are amazing & everything is fashion forward. They have insane sample sales and you can often find stuff there that you can’t find anywhere else. Actually, one of their bragging rights is the fact that they offer many hard to find and specialty designs by labels like Evisu, Armani, Blumarine, Chloe, Costume National, Diesel…and tons others. Now, you can shop the new denim guide for women on YOOX.COM!This is something they just unveiled and is a feature that allows you to narrow down your denim shopping results by fit, waist & wash (again, another store incorporating personalized browsing). I wanted to see if the denim guide was actually something I’d use so I did a little browsing and I was pretty impressed! They offer tons (and I mean tons) of styles and designers. It should definitely be your first stop if you’re looking for a new pair of jeans. I really like the fact that you can narrow down your fit and wash because, on other sites, I always find myself rifling through page upon page of irrelevant denim choices. The denim guide is a completely useful tool.
Yoox also has amazing sales and actually has a pretty good spring sale going on right now. Their Haven page has links to the current promos. I can get lost browsing a sale and, before I knew it, a few hours had passed and I was still checking out the discounts at Yoox. Below are my faves! (Yoox wasn’t cooperating with posting images, but the links will take you directly to each product. thanks!) Keep in mind, the small list below is just a sampling of the amount of crazy deals.
1. J Brand Skinnies: Normally $225 on sale for $89, only sizes 27 and 30 left
2. Just Cavalli Mini Skirt in Light Green: Normally $260 on sale for $25, only size 6 left
3. Alessandro Dell’Acqua Black Blazer: Normally $808 on sale for $79, only size 6 left
4. Ermanno Scervino Coat: Normally $1,110 on sale for $109, only size 4 left
5. Catherine Malandrino Sweater Coat: Normally $798 on sale for $79, sizes small and medium left
New Feature: The Haven

Just added a new feature to the site, The Haven (in the menu above). The Haven will be where all current promos, coupon codes & sales will be featured for tons of designers, label & stores. This feature will be updated pretty much on a daily basis so check back often. The main Haven page will list all updates as they are added and, if you hover over “THE HAVEN” in the menu above, a drop-down menu will show all designer/stores that are currently listed. As you can see, there’s a lot listed! Hopefully, you’ll start to check The Haven’s codes before you do all your online shopping (because, of course, I want you to get the very best deal possible!). Just about every store/designer has a code or banner for free shipping. Not all codes are posted yet so if you have a specific designer, store or label that you’re interested in and don’t see it in The Haven, send me a request and I’ll see if I’ve got a code or promo for it. Browsing each store’s ad campaigns (which are also included on each page) are pretty interesting, too, and could offer some pretty nice fashion inspiration. Happy shopping!
